Exceptional "short-beard" (S883) Sicily type overall - both sides and both emperors, with decent host coin; of course, the host is hardly S809 (as Sear implies), but rather S810, as detailed in D. Oaks. It is curious that this host coin was quite freshly minted (less than a year old) - something typical only of this countermarked Heraclius Syracuse type - and the present specimen also represents an exception to the rule, described in D. Oaks, of how the c/s systematically defaces the top of the M (rev.) and lower part of the standing emperors (obv.).
