The unusual obverse design appears unique to this type, though it clearly displays influences from Lydia, Lesbos, and some other early Western Asia Minor coinages. CNG Kayhan, presumably based in part on provenance and hoard data, assigns it to an "uncertain mint of Karia", along with a number of other silver fractions - some of which also appear in the Keckman, Troxell, Rosen and Berry catalogs. Many of these are scarce or rare, and some we carry here in our listings.
