A very rare piece altogether, with an elusive scene - the aftermath of Herakles' third labar. The masterfully executed reverse die shows the naked hero (the centering pit positioned right at his bellybutton) with the defeated beast, upside down, over his right shoulder, the top of his head peaking from above; a victim of an earlier labor - the Nemean lion, here in the form of the ubiquitous lionskin - shows (head, hindpaws and tail) nicely as being carried over the other shoulder. Additionally, a very nice and forceful portrait of Caracalla.
