Interesting representation of the great hero from the times of Roman Tetrarchy. As the ancient coin-engraving artistry generally declined in the third and fourth centuries AD, following its heyday from Classical through early Roman times, so did Herculian depictions depart from near-ideal proportions to a motley variety, ranging from pathetic stick figures to imbalanced "beefcakes". While the present rendition leans towards the latter, some well-executed elements (subtle, but visible), including the hero's benevolent facial expression and details of the lion skin, raise it above the average for its time.
