Unpublished as such in the multiple references consulted, both printed and on-line; however the clear reverse ethnic and iconography uniquely associate it with this otherwise scarcer location. Similar types do exist in silver, though they have a different Artemis imagery and legend layout. Although there are no references to Pegasos on this type, it is still relevant as the city is purported to have been founded by Bellerophon in honour of his companion Bargylos, who had been killed by a kick from Pegasos. The other thematic focus of Bargylian coinage - represented on both sides here - is the cult of Artemis Kindyas, based on the neighbouring temple containing the goddess' cultus-statue, famed to have never been rained on despite being open-aired...
