A rare and interesting ancient Celtic imitation of the famous Macedonian gold stater - the prime currency of its time. What appears to be an electrum-like plating remains intact over most of the coin surface including the key design areas, and the style - while certainly far from the artistry that characterized the top Greek masters in the employ of the powerful Macedonian court - is competent enough, yet specific in its own way, producing an overall pleasing result. A unique opportunity to own a reasonably looking "approximation" of a Philip stater at a mere fraction of the price - all the more so given the rarity of this Celtic version.
