A scarce issue with one of the many "mystery" designs of medieval Russian coinage. The typically poorly struck obverse has been interpreted as crowned prince, woman with hat, even a pitcher... Also notable is the subtle change in reverse legend after the establishment of Moscow's suzerainty (1456), with the city no longer bearing the epithet "Great".
