Interesting piece, appears to have been filed at the mint to adjust weight - common for certain coinage, but not for Russian wire money. Shortly after this, the "times of trouble" would sweep the country for several years, taking away in the process the traditional "heavy kopek" of which this is one of the latest examples. These political changes, among other things, left Boris Godunov as the only legitimate ruler squeezed in between the two great dynasties that span virtually all of Russian recorded history - those of the Ryurikoviches and Romanovs.
