Calendar of Events
The last incarnation of the SFHB took place Friday-Saturday, December 11-12, 2015, at its usual San Francisco location. The eighteenth of its kind in a row since the 2006 inception, it lived up to traditional expectation - despite a very late, last-minute push to get the event organized and staged, due to various logistical challenges. Nevertheless, there was a decent turnout, an expanded bourse with lively action, and very illuminating numismatic presentations. Many thanks to all those that took the time to stop by the Rudnik table - from old friends and seasoned collectors to budding aficionados of the hobby.
Rudnik Numismatics has proudly participated as a regular at the SF Historical Bourse since its beginning (for the record, the last event was under a slightly different name and management). Unfortunately, efforts to continue the show in 2016 were not successful, despite some active attempts. There are currently no specific plans for organizing any form of successor event in 2017, although the enthusiasm displayed by the show's 2015 interim management - along with almost unequivocal interest expressed by both dealers and visitors - support the belief that we might have this important West Coast tradition continued, somehow. After all, while the Internet era has changed many aspects of coin collecting and retailing (among the rest) - and our own business, admittedly, is primarily Internet-based - there is no real substitute for seeing these ancient treasures live, holding and examining them in person, and engaging in the sometimes intangible benefits that bourse fellowship invariably brings.
In the meantime, we will continue - as time permits - our postings of new fixed-price inventory across a broad spectrum of categories, along with occasional offerings through Rudnik Online Auctions. Also - for those in and around the San Francisco Bay Area, please continue to watch for us at the monthly meetings of the San Francisco Ancient Numismatic Society, aka SFANS (and if you're not a member - it's fun and please consider becoming one!). Specifically, we plan on attending the next gathering on Saturday, November 18, 2017, along with some exciting new material. Please note that since July 2016 the club meetings have moved to a new location: The Salesian Boys and Girls Club, 680 Filbert Street. It is easy to find - at the intersection of Powell & Filbert in the city's illustrious North Beach area, adjacenct to the monumental Saints Peter and Paul Church, at the edge of Washington Square Park. Complimentary parking is available on site within the fenced lot in front of the clubhouse. Normally meetings take place on the second Saturday of each month (with occasional shifts by a week to conform with other major numismatic events); meeting hours are normally 1 - 3 PM, but just for this (Nov. '17) meeting they will be shifted to the 12 - 2 pm slot. As usual, let us know if there are specific items that you like to be brought to the meeting.
Cheers!
